Academic Standards
Academic Standards Policy
(Effective Fall 2025 for the cohort Class of 2028 and Beyond)
Students who fall below a 3.5 Mendoza GPA* will be dismissed if they do not regain a 3.5 Mendoza GPA in the next semester. Falling below a 3.5 Mendoza GPA a second time at any future point will result in dismissal.
Students are expected to earn grades of B or higher in all Foundations courses and in the Introductory Business Honors Courses. One Foundations or Introductory course grade below B will trigger an evaluation for dismissal, and could prevent the student from completing upper level honors course requirements. Multiple grades below B in these courses typically will result in dismissal.
Dismissal may also result from failing to abide by the BHP Code of Conduct, failing to attend the required number of colloquia sessions, or other behavior that reflects negatively on the Business Honors Program.
*The Mendoza GPA is calculated using grades from courses administered by the Mendoza College of Business.
BHP Code of Conduct
Business Honors Program students are expected to behave at all times with integrity and professionalism, as befits Honors students. Violations of this expectation may result in dismissal. Such violations include:
Academic misconduct
Student life misconduct
Conduct detrimental to the Business Honors Program’s community or reputation
Noncompliance with the BHP Membership Communication Policy (see below).
BHP Membership Communication Policy
When associating themselves with the Business Honors Program in external communications (such as résumés and social media profiles), students in the Business Honors Program should identify themselves as either “Business Honors students” or as a “member of the Business Honors Program,” not as honors students in their major.
Examples:
Correct: Jane Smith, Finance Major, Business Honors Program
Incorrect: Jane Smith, Honors Finance Major
